On Friday, May 20 Lakewood Rotarians honored Shelley Crossen from Anderson Island Elementary School in the Historical Steilacoom School District and John McKinnon from Lake Louise Elementary School in Clover Park School District as Educators of the Month.
John McKinnon is completing his 28th year in Clover Park School District and is Lake Louise’s Title I and LAP (Learning Assistance Program) interventionist.
Lakewood Rotary members honored Shelley Crossen from Anderson Island Elementary School in the Historical Steilacoom School District and John McKinnon from Lake Louise Elementary School in Clover Park School District as May Educators of the Month.
Lake Louise Elementary School recently received a 2015 Washington Achievement Award in English language acquisition.
Lake Louise Elementary School principal Kristi Webster said, “As the supervisor of Lake Louise’s schoolwide intervention program, John lives and breathes finding ways to support struggling learners.”
McKinnon’s Lake Louise colleagues said, “John’s unfailing dedication in assigning the appropriate LAP and Title materials, his relentless checking of data to make sure students are making gains and his calming, fatherly way of welcoming students add up to John being an excellent teacher.”
Another colleague added, “John McKinnon is truly the backbone of our school…. whether it is about data, testing, technology, schedules, interventions, or crossing guards—he knows it all!”
