Steilacoom School District Secondary Schools Excel at Choral Competition

Pioneer Middle and Steilacoom High choral students participated in the Mountain Region Vocal Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Hudtloff Middle School on Saturday, March 12, 2016.

Combined 103 students from the two schools sang in both ensemble and solo competitions.

Congratulations to the following Pioneer Middle School soloists who earned a Superior rating, the highest score possible.? 7th graders Jay Hong, Sophia Palacios, Ashley Marchant and Lewis Mazikowski and 8th graders, Jayden Nobel, Janey Johnson, Matt Slater and Hyrum Stowers.

Special recognition goes to Lindsey Marchant, 8th grade, for earning a rating of a Superior +.

Pioneer Middle School Intermediate Girls Ensemble, Boys Choir Ensemble and 6th Grade Girls Ensemble earned Superior Ratings and the Advanced Girls Ensemble earned a Superior +.

Steilacoom High

The following entries placed first and will be competing at the State Competition April 29th and 20th at Central Washington State University.

Steilacoom Chamber Choir, Steilacoom Mixed Quartet (Abby Kelley, Ryan Marchant, Frank Kaufmann, Taylor Stowers), Steilacoom Men’s Quartet (Ryan Marchant, Jeffrey Johnson, Frank Kaufmann, Brandon Russell) and soloists Taylor Stowers, Ryan Marchant  and Abigail Kelley.

Out of 26 total entries from Steilacoom High School, 20 of them earned “Superior” ratings, and 6 earned a rating of “Excellent.”

Tuesday, March 29, 2016, Steilacoom Historical School District will present a choral concert featuring Saltar’s Point Elementary, Pioneer Middle and Steilacoom High choral students. The event will be held at Pacific Lutheran University Lagerquist Concert Hall at 6:30 pm.
