Start your holidays in Steilacoom at the 1857 Nathaniel Orr Home. Learn how families celebrated the holidays in the early 1900’s.
Rooms are beautifully decorated around the theme LET HEAVEN AND NATURE SING, local musicians entertain throughout the event. Of note are students from Steilacoom High School Band, local favorite Jeannie Hopkins, string students from the classes offered at University Place Presbyterian Church, and SHMA’s own Susanne Bacon.
Local artisans demonstrate their craft and sell their wares. Hungry? Buy a slice of homemade apple pie topped off with vanilla ice cream or buy a bag of cookies made with herbs and spices using pioneer recipes. Nature is also evident with a multitude of fresh greens and dried flowers and plants enhancing the decorations. Ever wonder what kinds of toys little boys played with? You’ll get a glimpse in the bedroom of the 6 Orr boys. And the kitchen is ready for holiday baking….
If you’re looking for beautiful, unique holiday gifts, visit our Museum Store which is stocked for the holidays.
Join us for a glimpse of an old-fashioned Christmas. Saturday, November 19 and Sunday November 20. Admission is $10.
