Steilacoom native earns A?A national Honor Medical Society admission

University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine fourth-year medical student, Hana Cobb, has been accepted into the Washington Chapter of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) national Honor Medical Society.

Hana hails Steilacoom, WA. She is a 2007 graduate of Steilacoom High School and went on to complete her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington before joining the UW School of Medicine in Seattle.

h-cobbAlpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society is a professional medical organization that recognizes and advocates for excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the profession of medicine. The top 25 percent of a medical school class is eligible for nomination to the society.

Medical students within 16 months of graduating from medical school are chosen for the Honor Medical Society from those with top academic performance, leadership among their peers, professionalism and a firm sense of ethics, promise of future success in medicine, and a commitment to service in the school and community.

“My classmates are some of the most hard-working, intelligent, and benevolent people I’ve ever met,” she said. “So, to be elected to AOA was truly an honor and a privilege.”

After medical school and subsequent residency training, Hana plans to specialize in Dermatology.
