Confidential Document Shredding Event:
On Saturday May 14th, the Town in conjunction with LeMay Mobile Shredding sponsored a confidential document shredding event. 233 individuals participated and filled the shredding truck to capacity. Additionally, $490 and approximately 400 pounds of food were donated to the Steilacoom food bank. Thank you to Terry, Mary, and Audrey Huber, Josie Folino, and Matt Gehring of LeMay Mobile Shredding who staffed this event.

Chief Rodriguez and Sergeant Yabe will be attended advanced police training in Vancouver this week.
Fireworks – Possession and/or Use:
In 2009, the Town Council adopted ordinance 1456 amending the Steilacoom Municipal Code to make the possession and/or use of fireworks illegal within the Town limits subject to fines up to $250 and $500 respectively. Due to State law, 2011 was the first year this ordinance was in effect and enforced. Please be aware of the provisions and inform any family members, guests, or others of this regulation.

Crew Emphasis:
The crew concentrated on vactoring catch basins in the Cherrydale neighborhood, sprayed noxious weeds in response to Pierce County Noxious Weed Control Board’s requests, mowed rights-of-way including the proposed pedestrian path between Roe Street and Galloway Street on the Worthington Street undeveloped right-of-way. The undeveloped Worthington Street right-of-way is an Eagle Scout candidate trail project scheduled for early June.
Electrical:

The crew terminated cables that were installed last week, worked on street light maintenance, and performed other system maintenance.
Water/Sewer:

The crew performed grounds maintenance around the lift stations and pump station, assisted the contractor working at Harbor Oaks installing isolation valves in the buildings, assisted the Parks Department with the irrigation systems, and performed other system maintenance.

Staff continued repairing, charging, and adjusting sprinkler systems and drinking fountains, mowed parks and grounds, and performed other building and grounds maintenance. Additionally, staff replaced approximately 100 flags in preparation for installation next week in the downtown core.

(*Our Market will be accepting WIC, Senior FMNP and EBT payments this season, too!!

Steilacoom High School Sentinels’ Pride:
The award-winning SHS Wind Ensemble will perform at the close of our Farmers’ Market grand opening on June 1st at 6:30pm in Pioneer Orchard Park. Bring your picnic blanket and share the Sentinals Pride!
*Note: The Town of Steilacoom Music Concert series will officially begin on Wednesday, June 29th at Pioneer Orchard Park.
